Despite the ongoing conspiracies by the U.S. Postal Service against us, you’ll have hopefully received two pieces of mail from us by this week: the Wedding invite, designed by our good friend Eric Adolfsen, as well as the Rehearsal Dinner invitation. Please let us know if you need replacements, help, guidance or general navigational support.
Some of you have been asking about dressing for these events, so we thought a new post would be helpful.
The wedding will be black tie, mostly because we thought everyone would look gorgeous all dressed up. This means tuxedos for the men — we fully support velvet, for those who asked — and long gowns for the women. Of course, we want you to wear what you are most happy in. So if that means you are in a beautiful cocktail dress, or a black suit and tie, great!
The rehearsal dinner, meantime, will be “festive dress,” which is, admittedly, one of those infuriatingly vague terms. Feel free to wear this or this, but it probably means jackets, or a sweater and tie, for the men and something on the dressy side for women. It also basically means no jeans, unless they are superfestive, like this beaded Ralph Lauren pair (on the left). Though we don’t want you wasting all that time with a glue gun. But we digress.
We are very happy to help you with any further sartorial, or any other, questions. Just give us a ring, send an email or comment on this blog.
I’m wearing an eye-patch and fingerless white satin gloves. Also bringing my tasseled velvet whip – is that cool?
the kermit dress makes me look fat. what if i go for LG’s earlier disco-ball-bra look?
